WHAT IS ARIA412?
Aria412 connects communities of audiences, local artists and collaborators through dynamic performances of opera, art song, musical theater, and popular repertoire. Through free and accessible concerts, original productions, and innovative programming, we create vibrant, welcoming spaces where extraordinary music feels engaging, inclusive, and unmistakably Pittsburgh.

The Deadline:
Due Yesterday.
Tuesday, September 1 at 7:00 pm
5601 Butler Street; 15201
We all have deadlines. Some are real. Some are self-imposed. Some are completely arbitrary. And some just refuse to go away.
Join Aria412 for a night of music about deadlines, ultimatums, last chances, and the pressure to get it done, featuring the premiere of The Deadline, a new chamber opera by composer Matt Gillespie and librettist Kip Soteres.
In The Deadline, an ordinary workplace deadline takes on a life of its own, leaving an employee to deal with an increasingly impossible assignment, a boss looking for someone to blame, and a deadline that may be harder to escape than anyone expected. It's funny, familiar, and maybe a little too close to home.
But that's only half of the evening.
We'll also fill the program with songs and arias about people who are running out of time, drawing lines in the sand, making demands, changing their minds, and discovering that sometimes an ultimatum is easier to give than to keep.
The premiere features Louise van Mook, Ray Blackwell, and Leah Huber, with Lucas Barkley on piano and Roger Zahab on violin. The evening also features Desirée Soteres, Kelly Lynch, and Kathy Soroka, with Kip Soteres serving as our emcee.
Come early, grab a beer, and settle in.
Admission is free.
